Sadly, that was also my experience earlier in the year at The Half Moon, Putney. From start to finish, the "chattering" almost cancelled out the music (Garry had to ask several times for it to be toned down). I just don't get it. Why do people do it ? It is disrespectful to both the band and those who have gone to see the performance. I know that I am in the "grumpy old man" category now but I think I speak for most genuine fans. If you want to have a chat, go somewhere else and don't spoil it for the band and the rest of us. The romantic notion that the smaller standing venues have the best atmosphere is totally destroyed when people behave like this. I know that the seated venues do not necessarily give people the chance to dance but at least you can see and hear the band. I feared Birmingham would be like Putney which is why I didn't go.
Scrapman - don't give up the faith. Remember the great gigs at Worcester. That is just the size and type of venue I think the lads should be playing and hopefully will be over the autumn and winter.
Was any announcement made about the new album ? I have not heard anything about it for a while now.
Grumpy Graeme.
